My Teaching Philosphy

I believe that knowledge is taken and never can be given to anyone who didn't want it. Because of this teachers' primary goal is to direct students to a path that help them to know how to acquire k knowledge especially things that are important in their life. So teachers should help students to become individuals who think independently and critically.
Because learning is the process by which one acquires knowledge, by integrating new information to students' prior knowledge and their experiences in life, they can construct new knowledge and also develop the skills to apply knowledge to practice. During this process, meta-learning also takes place while the learners learn how to adjust their learning strategies and methods as well as their attitude toward learning. The role of the teacher, thus, is to facilitate and guide their learning process. An effective teacher not only teaches domain knowledge but also stimulates the learners' high order thinking skills. This can be achieved if the teacher started to be aware of the type of the questions that he/she asks in the class and by putting students in real life problems that need high thinking skills to be solved.
Another aspect that should be taken into consideration when the teacher plan for a lesson is the differences in the students learning styles. A person dominant learning style reflects his/her beliefs about what knowledge is and how knowledge is acquired. So the dominant learning style forms the comfort zone when facing the unknown, because it, often, is formed and proven effective as an individual grows and learns. Teaching, thus, involves the facilitation of peoples preferred learning styles in their acquisition of knowledge. Students' awareness of their own learning styles enables them to proactively adopt the best approach to learning. My awareness of students' different learning styles allows me to design the most effective teaching method and to address diversity and individual differences most effectively. My awareness of my own learning style popes my eyes to the possible biases in my teaching due to my own learning style.
Besides that I believe that collaborative learning is an effective method that help students not just to grow intellectually, but also for them to learn how to behave n the society. Learning in collaborative environment provides a philosophical support in which students are more perseverance in pursuing their education.
